Description
Gorun Winery | Iskar River Valley | Pchelina area
Kaylashki Misket 2024 is a terroir interpretation of one of the emblematic white varieties of the Pleven region. The wine is created from vines in the Pchelina area – a chalky loess terrain on the airy hills above the Iskar River, where the natural aeration and deep rooting of the vines build concentration, purity and character.
The 2024 vintage is distinguished by its preserved natural freshness and precise phenolic ripening, allowing the creation of an elegant and structured white wine.
The grapes are hand-picked, gently pressed and fermented in inox under strict temperature control to preserve the maximum freshness and purity of the fruit profile. No malolactic fermentation is carried out to preserve the wine’s vibrant structure and energy. Short ageing on fine lees adds volume and finesse without compromising its precision.
Aroma
Intense and clean aromatic profile with dominant notes of white blossoms, acacia and fresh citrus – lemon and lime, complemented by green pear and a delicate mineral background. The aroma is clear, focused and expressive.
Taste
Fresh and lively on the palate, with well-structured acidity and a pronounced mineral character. Balanced body, clean and long finish with light citrus accent and floral elegance. Not just a lightly ‘fragrant summer’ wine, but a serious interpretation of the variety with potential to develop in bottle.
Suitable for: seafood, baked white fish, goat cheese, fresh salads and modern Balkan cuisine.
Serving: 8-10°C
Philosophy
This wine is part of Gorun Winery’s mission to revive and modernize the indigenous varieties of the Danube Plain. Caille Misket is not just a regional variety – it is an identity refracted through modern oenology and respect for the terroir.
Vintage 2022 – 90 t. Decanter World Wine Awards 2024, silver medal Balkans International Wine Competition – Romania 2023
